Del Dalrymple
Del Dalrymple – He had contagious enthusiasm and he went for what he believed in.

He was a friend that stuck by you, good times and bad. And it is those bad times that make friends sometimes hard to find, except for the really good ones, true friends, like Del, he was always there.

I don’t know what happened to Del. And I keep thinking well maybe it is all a bunch of BS…or is that what we all wish it was?

Prayers and Support For Del Dalrymple
  • Tom Skahill
Passing Along prayers and best wishes to all.

In the short year I knew Del (from his time racing with Candace at Mesa Marin) I can truly say no one man in the sport of racing left tire tracks on my life like Del. Whether it was a cool drink on a hot Bakersfield afternoon or a few minutes BS-ing in his trailer, Del always had a smile on his face and a story to tell. He was kind, fun and loved his cars, but not as much as he loved to watch other people drive them. I was looking forward to the new race track opening here in Bakersfield because I was looking forward to seeing my friend again...guess my wait just got a little bit longer. God Bless Del...see you in Victory Lane my friend.

The Bennett racing team is at a total loss right now. Del was more than a friend to us - he was family. His big heart and kindness were contagious. I know we'll miss him terribly at the races. The only thing that eases our grief is to know that Del knew the Lord and that he is with Jesus now. Our deepest condolences to Candace and family. We are praying for you.

To Candace, the Team, & Del's family, Kathy's and my heart and prayers go out to you all. I was looking forward to getting to know you all and Del better this next year around the GN West Series. Del was impressive and I count it such a privilege to have had the opportunity to meet him this year. It just was not long enough! What a shock to all of us. Del went out of his way to be available to so many. I remember when they spent a whole day with the Long Beach Boy Scouts handing out Irwindale tickets, signing autographs, etc. and then recently they did so much for the fund raiser we did for the Chaplain Ministry. God's comfort to you Candace, Del's family and all his friends.

  • Tom Merritt

So, Del, you jumped the start on us and the flagman let you go. Remember back in 2000, when you fixed up that car and took it to OSS? You said, "Every driver wants to win, I'm no different, but I let the Lord take care of me now. I figure if I can race and it opens doors for me to share His life with others then there is no bigger victory for me." Well, somehow I think Victory is yours, now and the Lord is taking care of you. So there is a certain peace, no matter how much we all may miss you. And you did share his life. You did a lot of good things, and doors were opened for others by you. So…when you see us coming…and hopefully we will be going to where you are...can you hold the door open? God Speed, Del...janet

I have just spoken with Candace, she will be making a post as soon as the details are finalized for a memorial service for Del. In the mean time... I would like to setup a fund for Candace that which can be sent to Irwindale Speedway, made out directly to Candace Muzny. Del was a long time friend to my family and truly was a special person. We will all miss him! Please continue to keep Candace and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you, Michelle Green & Family (Rusty & Tony) Irwindale Speedway 500 Speedway Drive Irwindale, CA 91706
