Brandon Ash Driver Bio
Brandon Ash is the son of former racer and well-known West Coast engine builder Ed Ash. As a teenager, Brandon chose to follow his interests in stock car racing rather than pursue a possible career in baseball. He won a late model sportsman championship at Coos Bay (Ore.) International Speedway before focusing on the NASCAR Winston West Series. He competed in a limited number of NWWS races in 1996 and 1997 and took on the full schedule in 1998. He was on of three rookies to win a Bud Pole Award, and he came within inches of winning a race at Sears Point Raceway as his car ran out of gas and sputtered just short of the finish line. His sophomore season in the series was a strong one, with runner-up finishes at Tucson Raceway Park and Mesa Marin Raceway.
