MYERS WINS IRWINDALE LATE MODEL MAIN TOYOTA SPEEDWAY T IRWINDALE 
IRWINDALE, California — Andrew Myers started third in a 25-car Toyota Speedway at Irwindale field Saturday and led every lap in a scheduled 100-lap NASCAR Auto Club Late Model feature. The planned final race of the night was moved to the first main event time slot to beat a predicted 40% chance of rain, but light rain ended the event early. Myers had his second consecutive ACLM feature triumph and the seventh of 2008 for the No. 15 Eugene Dewberry Chevy Monte Carlo team.

ERB TOPS CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON WITH FIRST SLM WIN UMP DIRTCAR NATIONALS Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville, Ill.
(Super Late Models) and Mike Harrison of Highland, Ill. (open-wheel
Modifieds) turned back late-race challenges to triumph in Saturday night’s Moser Engineering UMP DIRTcar Nationals at Eldora Speedway.
Erb, who turns 36 on Oct. 12, ended his second consecutive UMP DIRTcar national championship season with a $5,000 flourish in the 40-lap Super Late Model A-Main. He grabbed the lead from Richie Hedrick of Urbana, Ill., on lap four and made all the right moves in lapped traffic during the final circuits to hold off Matt Miller of Waterville, Ohio, and Jeep VanWormer of Pinconning, Mich., for his first career win at the famed half-mile oval.

ANOTHER NIGHT OF HOT ASA RACING ACTION AT HAVASU HAVASU 95 SPEEDWAY  ASA sanctioned stock car racing returned to the Havasu 95 Speedway, in Lake Havasu City-Arizona, on October 4th. and treated a large crowd of race fans to high flying action from the ASA Street Stocks, Inex Bandoleros, factory stocks and a 75 lap feature race from the visiting SuperClean Modified Racing Series on the most scenic quarter mile paved oval in the southwest.

PODIUM FINISH FOR DODD AT SUPER TRUCK FINALE SUPER TRUCK Scott Dodd in the #6 King Taco Super Truck had to pass a lot of trucks for his third place finish in the Super Truck 100 lap season finale. Dodd was 5th fast during practice, but the adjustments made for qualifying had the truck coming off the corners sideways. Leaving Dodd 14th fast out of the 28 truck field. Dodd wasn’t too worried; he knew he had a set up on the truck that would last the full 100 laps.

RACING SCENE COLUMN: NECROLOGY NECROLOGY is a noun according to Webster's Dictionary. Necrologies is the plural and unfortunately that word applies in motor racing during September 2008. The definition of the word is 1. a list of people who have died within a certain period as that in a newspaper (obituaries); 2. a death notice, obituary. This column will be dedicated to the memory of five men who have left this world physically in recent weeks. However, their contributions, especially in the motor sports world, will live on in our memories. They will not be forgotten.

ASA AND VERVE! ENERGIZE RACES WITH $50K PURSE ASA SPEED TRUCK CHALLENGE  It was one of those magical evenings at Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway on the Colorado River Fairgrounds in Blythe, California last Saturday night. Despite the incredibly hot day in preparation for the feature race of the evening, the ASA Speed Truck Challenge (ASA STC) pit areas were abuzz with the anticipation of the first of the three final races of the season where the injection of an additional $50,000 into the driver purse fund by VERVE! members was to start. “We knew that adding this additional $15,000 to tonight’s race would be exciting, but we had no idea that our teams would share our own enthusiasm to this degree,” said Jay Rutherford, owner of the series. “In response to our hard work over the past two months on their behalf, VERVE! members stepped to the plate with this exciting Purse Fund addition that has everyone motivated to take a hard look at our Motorsports Economic Stimulus Program,” continued Rutherford.

CHAMPIONSHIP OFF ROAD RACING CANCELS PRIMM STATEMENT FROM JIM BALDWIN Championship Off Road Racing CEO Jim Baldwin made the following statement regarding the organization’s decision to cancel its Primm, Nevada race weekend (October 25, 26).
“Championship Off Road Racing has made the difficult decision to cancel the Primm, Nevada race on October 25th and 26th. The current credit crisis has made it very difficult to cover CORR’s costs.”
