MICHEL JOURDAIN JR. TO SKIP NEW HAMPSHIRE RACE

NASCAR BUSCH SERIES

ppc Racing officials announced today driver Michel Jourdain Jr. will not compete this weekend in New Hampshire due to lack of sponsorship. ppc Racing officials will continue to search for sponsorship in hopes of returning Jourdain to the NASCAR Busch Series.

“Our second Busch program has gone most of the season without sponsorship and we cannot continue to run this team until that is in place,” said Pollex. “Michel is a great sell to any corporate sponsor looking to reach the Hispanic community in the United States and several have stepped up with one-race agreements in key markets. We have a competitive race team here and again this year we are in the hunt with Kenny Wallace, who is fifth in the driver standings. We hope to have Michel return to competition before the season ends in Miami.”

Jourdain teamed with ppc Racing, the 2000 NASCAR Busch Series championship-winning team, in January after moving from the open-wheel ranks. Jourdain began the season as the series first full-time Mexican driver. Jourdain earned his first top-10 finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway after just six races in a stock car. Jourdain’s first stock car race was in NASCAR’s West Series at Phoenix International Raceway, where he finished sixth.

“I am disappointed that we have to make this decision,” said Jourdain. “This is my first year of stock car racing, making the transition from open-wheel. The biggest thing for me is to race miles at every track and to gain experience with these cars but it is near impossible to run a race team without a sponsor. I am thankful to Greg Pollex, ppc Racing and Ford Racing Technology for their efforts to get at least to this point. Hopefully we can race again soon this season in the NASCAR Busch Series.”
