ASA PRO-4’S, ASA STREET STOCKS, ASA STOCK PONY AND SPORT COMPACTS AT THE ORANGE SHOW SPEEDWAY AUGUST 13THORANGE SHOW SPEEDWAY

Yucaipa resident Tim Carruthers sits on top the point standings holding a slim two-point lead over San Bernardino resident Rob Kiemele. Riverside’s Don Minut follows in third eight points back and Rex Lockwood, Victorville, is fourth only ten points back. Bloomington’s Eddie Secord rounds out the top five. The ASA Street Stocks and the ASA Stock Pony divisions return to the 1/4 -mile high-banked oval this Saturday night to resume the season long points championship battle. Johnny Russo, Big Bear Lake resident and defending champion leads the ASA Street Stock point’s battle by only six points to fellow Big Bear Lake resident Cliff Conklin. Riverside’s Tom Gilstrap sits comfortably in third with Menifee resident Coke Frederick fourth and Nathan Gruwell, Yorba Linda rounding out the top five. Russo has finished in the top five of every ASA Street Stock main event so far this season. Conklin has finished in at least the top ten in each event and is looking to take the points lead by finishing well this Saturday. Jim Edminston, Highland is looking for his fourth ASA Stock Pony main event win this Saturday but Jim Edminston also from Highland will do everything he can to out perform Edminston for the main event win. Both drivers each have three main event wins in seven races this season. Victorville’s Jered King is the only driver to also win a main event in the ASA Stock Pony division. These three also hold the top three positions in the point’s battle. Adrianne Murlin, from Corona is fourth and rookie Matt Goodwin from Wildomar rounds out the top five. Sport Compact return to OSS this Saturday and Walnut resident Art Ramirez is looking to hold his spot at the top of points standing. Ramirez leads by two-points over Jered King, who is pulling double duty by driving in two divisions this season. Rookie driver and Moreno Valley resident Robert Hodge is third and ASA Super Late Model driver and former SLM Champion Frankie Gould is fourth with rookie Joe Perez, Jr. rounding out the top five. Perez, Jr. is the son of ASA Super Late Model veteran Joe Perez. The ARCA Trucks originally scheduled for this Saturday has been postponed until the 2006 season. The NOS Events Center, Orange Show Speedway and the Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties have teamed up to create the OSS Drivers’ Relief Donor Club to help increase our communities’ blood reserves. The OSS Driver’s Relief Donor Club has been created to provide drivers, family members, fans, and anyone else associated with local racing assistance in times of need by providing blood for patients in our community. Individuals giving blood will receive a voucher good for one adult admission to the Orange Show Speedway as a thank-you for saving lives. Donate blood and support your favorite driver August 8 through August 27.
Spectator gates open at 5:00 pm and racing action gets underway at 6:30 pm. Admission will be $10.00 for adults, $8.00 for seniors & military, $2.00 for juniors 6 to 12 and children under 5 are FREE. Orange Show Speedway is conveniently located on the NOS Events Center, home of the National Orange Show Festival in San Bernardino, California. Take the 215 freeway, exit at the Orange Show Road and go north on E Street approximately one half mile to Mill Street.
