TIM CARRUTHERS CROWNED THE 2005 SOBOBA CASINO ASA PRO-4 CHAMPION

SAN BERNARDINO, California -- As the 2005 racing season closes at Orange Show Speedway, division point championships have been decided in the nine different classes of stock cars at the ASA Member Track in southern California.

Tim Carruthers, Yucaipa was a model of consistency this season winning the Soboba Casino ASA Pro-4 Championship by six points over Rob Kiemele of San Bernardino. Carruthers battle his way to the Championship with six top five and two top ten finishes. Kiemele, on the other hand experienced his first main event win this season coupled with four top fives and three top ten finishes for second in points. Kiemele will also claim the “Rookie of the Year” award in this diverse division of four cylinder late models

Rex Lockwood, Victorville trailed second spot by only ten points for a third place overall in points. Don Minut, Riverside claimed the fourth position with Eddie Secord, Bloomington back in fifth. Minut was the big winner this season by not only winning his first main event but for also capturing win in the 3rd Annual Pro-4 Short Track Nationals and the big purse that comes with the big trophy. Secord on the other hand visited victory lane there time this season.

Chuck Becker III drove Kendall Scheidecker’s car to a sixth place overall with Keith Blomgren, La Quinta back in seventh. Blomgren was plagued all season by new car blues with a new dodge engine package as well. Rookie Chris Jackson proved he was capable of wheeling one of these 4-cylinder rockets around the ¼-mile oval this season with an eighth place finish followed closely by two-time main event winner Steve Bernardi of Moreno Valley in ninth. Bernardi drove the Gary Edwards owned Monte Carlo on three different occasions earlier in the season and finished no worse than second place in those main events. Jim Snow, Redlands, rounded out the top ten point positions for 2005.

Kendall Scheidecker, Highland; Robbie Ragains, Apple Valley; David Gibson, Apple Valley; Shawn Steele, Lake Elsinore; Kyle Cline, Apple Valley; Jeremy Edwards, Yucaipa; Sam Newcomer, Apple Valley; Brain Glidewell, Riverside; John Soares, San Bernardino and Ryan Spencer, Riverside filled positions eleven through twenty in the 2005 Soboba Casino ASA Pro-4 point standings.

For the 2005 season a total of twenty-three Soboba Casino ASA Pro-4 drivers competed at the Orange Show Speedway over eight different event dates with car counts ranging from eight to fifteen.

Orange Show Speedway, an ASA Member Track, is conveniently located at the NOS Events Center, home of the National Orange Show Festival in San Bernardino, California. Take the 215 freeway, exit at the Mill Street and go east to gate 3.
