At the Pacific Raceways in Kent yesterday, Jason Line of KB Racing was the lone Ringers’ supporting racer collecting his Wally in the Schuck’s Auto Supply Nationals Winner’s Circle. Line scored his second win on the season by defeating Allen Johnson with a 6.659-second, 208.10 mph run. While Greg Anderson fell out in the first round and is out of contention to sweep the Western Swing, the KB Racing team has the opportunity should Anderson or Line take the Pro Stock win in Sonoma to sweep the three-week racing swing. The FRAM Autolite Nationals will be held this weekend July 25-27 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series had a weekend off in preparation for the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend, but the Craftsman Truck Series rumbled into the Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Ky., for the Built Ford Tough 225 presented by the Greater Cincinnati Ford Dealers. The Green Light Racing duo (No. 07 & 08) followed each other to the line in the in the race in the 17th and 18th positions. Ringers’ supporter Brendan Gaughan was involved in a late-race accident that relegated him to a 28th-place finish. The Truck Series, along with the Nationwide Series, head to the O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis just up the road from my house this weekend for their events in conjunction with the Cup race at the Brickyard. The American Le Mans Series, IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights Series ventured to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Oh., for their respective events at the 2.4-mile, 15 turn road course. The Andretti Green Racing ALMS No. 26 XM Satellite Radio Acura entry was forced to exit the Acura Sports Car Challenge in the sixth minute of the event when contact from a lapped car relegated them to pit road for extensive repairs. The team was unable to recoup and was scored seventh in the LMP2 class and 14th in the overall race. The Firestone Indy Lights Series ran two races at Mid-Ohio over the weekend. In Race 1, the No. 27 AFS Racing/Andretti Green Racing Dallara took the pole for the event and then led the entire 100 laps to collect the win on Saturday. The No. 26 Targus/Andretti Green Racing Dallara entry finished the race in eighth. On a wet Sunday, the second Mid-Ohio 100 contended in the rainy conditions and both Andretti Green Racing Indy Lights teams didn’t fair well in the event. The No. 26 Targus/Andretti Green Racing Dallara entry finished the race in 11th, while the No. 27 AFS Racing/Andretti Green Racing was scored in 18th. In the Honda Indy 200 on Sunday, the No. 7 Team 7-Eleven entry led the AGR contingent to the finish line in the seventh position, while the No. 27 Formula Dream entry also collected a top-10 finish in ninth. The No. 26 Blockbuster car was involved in an accident on lap 42 of the 85-lap race, relegating the team to a 25th-place finish. All AGR teams will head to the Edmonton City Centre Airport for the Rexall Edmonton Indy this weekend, while Indy Lights teams will resume racing on August 9 at Kentucky Speedway (Ky.) and the ALMS team at Road America in Elkhart Lake (Wis.) the same day. A Ringers’ supporting team brought home the victory in the ALMS GT2 class at Mid-Ohio on Saturday. The Tafel Racing duo of Dirk Muller and Dominick Farnbacher scored their third win on the season, with the first two coming at St. Petersburg (Fla.) and Long Beach (Calif.). Their Tafel Racing teammates of Alex Figge and Jim Tafel finished the event in eighth. That’s the minute for this week!
