WILLOW SPRINGS SPEEDWAY HOSTING OPEN PRACTICE SESSION THIS SATURDAY

For the second time in as many weeks the Willow Springs Speedway will be hosting an open test and tune practice session for all racing divisions this Saturday, August 9th, beginning at 1030 am. The speedway is a quarter mile paved oval located within the massive Willow Springs Speedway International Speedway complex in Rosamond-California.

There are two basic reasons for the open practice sessions. The first is to determine interest in the possibility of returning stock car racing to the speedway on a full time basis. The second reason is to provide area racing teams an opportunity to test and tune for future events at other speedways coming up in the days ahead.

For example the Auto Club Late Model teams, from the Toyota Speedway At Irwindale, could use the Willow Springs practice session to fine tune their set up for their upcoming race on August 16th. The Orange Show Speedway will be featuring Super Late Models, SuperClean Modifieds, Pro 4's, Factory 4's and Legends on the 16th and the Willow Springs test this Saturday could also provide them a great deal of benefit especially in light of the fact that the two speedways are virtually identical. Also bear in mind that the winter racing series, at the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway and the Havasu 95 Speedway, will be starting next month and the Willow Springs session would be an excellent opportunity to test new cars and fresh motors.

But the major focus of this Saturday at the Willow Springs Speedway will be the possible return of racing to a track that has had quite a few evenings of quality stock car racing over the years. The attendance and interest level displayed at this Saturday's practice sessions, as well as future ones to come, will go a long ways towards returning stock car racing to Rosamond. Event host Jeff Murphy, from the Lancaster based After Hours Racing, envisions a racing schedule that will be open to all divisions from Late Models to Bandoleros and everything in between competing in an environment that is schedule friendly with other tracks in the region, fun for the drivers and the teams along with family style entertainment for the fans.

Regarding fees for Saturday the driver must be a Willow Springs member which cost $50 per year. Car and driver entry fees are $40 and all crew members are $10 each. For additional tech information, and additional general inquiries, contact Jeff Murphy at 661 816 4591.####
