![]() This Saturday, August 16th, Dave Byrd will charge into Colorado National Speedway with one objective. Just win!
The United Power/Touchstone Energy 150 in Erie, Colorado will mark the first time Dave has ran with the SRL Southwest Tour Series, since May 24th at Altamont Motorsports Park near Tracy, California.
Dave hasn’t sat idle though, since his last SRL appearance. Dave has been busy posting nine top five finishes in nine starts at Madera Speedway in the NASCAR Whelen All American Racing Series. Included in those top five’s is a streak of three wins in the last five starts.
“We’ve been helping Kenny Whalen, a friend from way back, sort out his Late Model at Madera Speedway,” explained Dave. “We’ve been making great progress. I hate to break that momentum, but this is the SRL! When (Car Owner) Bob (Strandwold) called and said “let’s go racin’”, I knew Kenny would understand,” chuckled Byrd.
In last years appearance at Colorado National Speedway, after suffering an early flat tire, the Performance Electric Racing Team changed the tire and they were able to get Dave back out on the lead lap. Dave raced to a fourth place finish among SRL drivers, scoring crucial championship points, that eventually would lead to winning a very hotly contested 2007 SRL Southwest Tour Championship. Dave finished seventh overall against some great local talent.
