![]() ANTELOPE, California – Bill McAnally Racing’s driver Eric Holmes battled a loose No. 20 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota Camry all night at the Toyota Speedway. Despite a difficult handling car, Holmes finished eighth; maintaining his NASCAR Camping World Series West championship points lead. Holmes put the No. 20 NAPA entry fifth on the board during the second practice. He went on to qualify on the outside of row two. Holmes ran the first 35 laps in the top five. During a caution at lap 69, he radioed crew chief, Ty Joiner that the car was “really loose” and he couldn’t get 100% on the throttle. Joiner would do what he could to get more forward bite for Holmes during the halfway break at lap 100. The No. 20 NAPA team went to work during the 10-minute break putting on two fresh right side tires, topping off with fuel and making adjustments. Holmes quickly gained two spots at the restart of the second 100-laps. Under caution at lap 166, Holmes radioed in that the car was still loose. He would bring the NAPA Toyota home in eighth. “This race was no fun,” said Holmes. “I felt like would spin out at any moment. It was all I could do to keep it off the wall. We’ll be much better at Altamont.” The next race will be at Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy California. Holmes won the race at the series last visit there in 2007. He led all but seven laps at the 2007 season finale. He also holds the qualifying record which has held since 2006.
