RIDERS GEAR UP FOR $25,000 RINGERS GLOVES PRO BIKE BATTLERINGERS GLOVES

CLERMONT, Indiana — The Pro Stock Motorcycle riders in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series fought it out until the end in Reading, Pa., to break into one of the eight positions up for grabs for the 18th annual Ringers Gloves Pro Bike Battle held at the Mac Tools U.S. Nationals at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis on Saturday, August 30. Since Indianapolis last year, riders have been collecting points through qualifying for a chance to run in the most lucrative all-around payout and biggest paying race in the Pro Stock Motorcycle class. Riders who took the No. 1 qualifying position at each NHRA event were awarded $1,000 for their efforts. For the 2008 Pro Bike Battle, Chip Ellis and his Schumacher Electric Suzuki leads the field into the specialty race. In the previous three Pro Bike Battles, Ellis has been a bridesmaid in the $25,000 payday race to the Vance & Hines Screamin’ Eagle Harley-Davidson teams. 2008 RINGERS GLOVES PRO BIKE BATTLE FINAL STANDINGS 1. Matt Guidera, Loomis, Calif., Mohegan Sun Rocklin Motorsports Buell, 1,935 The runner-up of the event will receive $10,000, with the semifinalists taking home $6,000 each and the four first-round finishers receiving $3,000 a piece. Should the winner of the Pro Bike Battle take home the title of U.S. Nationals event champion, a “double-up” bonus of $10,000 will be awarded to the rider from the National Hot Rod Association. First round pairings line up with Chip Ellis vs. Matt Guidera; Matt Smith vs. Chris Rivas; Andrew Hines vs. Karen Stoffer and Eddie Krawiec vs. Angelle Sampey. Semifinal pairings will be the Ellis-Guidera winner vs. Krawiec-Sampey winner and Smith-Rivas winner vs. Hines-Stoffer winner.
