TOP-TEN FINISH FOR THE NO. 16 HASA POOL PRODUCTS/WHITE FLYER TOYOTA

ANTELOPE, California – A pair of nines for Moses Smith at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, California. Smith finished ninth at both NASCAR Camping World Series West races held at the speedway in 2008. The Bill McAnally Racing driver moves up one spot to sixth in the chase for the series championship with his site set on taking over fifth at the next race in Tracy, California.

Final practice had the No. 16 Hasa Pool Products Toyota 16th on the timing charts. One tenth faster would put him in the top ten. He found that tenth and posted a time of 18.910 and on the seventh row to start the 200-lap race. At the first caution at lap 69, the No. 16 Hasa entry was tenth on the score board. Smith would gain one more spot by the halfway break at lap 100.

“I was trying to take care of the left rear tire during the first half,” said Smith. He radioed in to crew chief, Duane Knorr that the No. 16 Hasa Toyota Camry was tight in the middle. The team changed right side tires, took on fuel and made minor adjustments to the car during the break.

“It was a good points night for us,” said Smith. “We would have liked to gain a few more finishing positions in the race.” The No. 16 Hasa team is on to Altamont and look to move into the top-five in the chase for the series championship.

The next race will be at Altamont Motorsports Park on September 13th. The race from Toyota Speedway can be seen on SPEED Channel on August 29th at noon EST. Check your local listings.
