FULL SLATE OF NASCAR RACING ON TAP AT ALTAMONT MOTORSPORTS PARK THIS WEEKENDDate: 04/13/2007
Ryan Philpott will be shooting for a second Western Late Model win in a row this Saturday as the racer from Tracy, Calif won Altamont Motorsports Park's 50-lap season opener on the 1/2-mile last Saturday, April 7th, besting a strong 14-car field. After starting in the fourth position, Philpott took the lead on lap 16 last Saturday but was never out of sight from pole-sitter, Jason Gilbert. The Pro-Trucks and American Limited Stock Cars will battle it out on Altamont Motorsports Park's 1/4 mile oval on Saturday. Last weekend in ALSC action, James Dulla took the lead with three laps to go and held on for the checkers. Pole-sitter James Earl finished just three-tenths of a second behind Dulla. The Pro-Trucks, new to Altamont Motorsports Park this year, will also compete on the 1/4-mile this Saturday. The 2007 Pro-Trucks combine the two 2006 truck classes from Stockton 99 Speedway and Altamont Motorsports Park. Ron Robeck took the checkers in the inaugural event last Saturday. Saturday's action will be book-ended with two races from the Formula-4 series on Altamont Motorsports Park's 1.1 mile road coarse. Leo Solari and Doug and Debbie Foreman made a strong showings in last week's road course racing activities.
Qualifying is scheduled for 3:15pm this Saturday with Opening Ceremonies at 5pm followed by Trophy Dashes and the Mains. Tickets are $12 for adults, $9 for seniors and $7 for youths, see http://www.altamontracing.com/ for more information. On Sunday, April 15th, the Auto-X Battle is on! The Autocross competition will inculde both a timed lap and speed contest. Gates open at 11am with racing to start at 1pm. Ticket prices are the same.
