Date: 05/30/2007
![]() As the final touches on the dirt work at the new half mile raceway west of Bakersfield take place, structural construction has begun. Concrete work is nearly complete for the front straight grandstand and the turn 1 tunnel is ready for concrete forms and re-bar installation. “Everything is coming together and taking shape in a way that is very exciting.” stated track president Larry Collins. “At this stage you can have a real good idea of how things will look when complete, it really gets you pumped up.” added Collins. As construction of the grandstand area and tunnel continue, next week the crash wall will also begin to take shape. A-C Electric Company is now on site as they begin the task of installing 14 miles of underground conduit to accommodate the power, communications and surveillance wire and cabling for the new venue. See the latest construction photos at www.kerncountynascar.com. Unique Partnership Flashco, Inc. has signed a five year commitment to become the “Official Contractor Supply and Equipment Rental Company of Kern County’s New Home to NASCAR”. The locally owned company will have some unique features at the new half-mile, including the sponsorship of the start/finish line which will be known as the “FLASHCO FINISH LINE” and the “FLASHCO SPEED TRAP”. The “FLASHCO SPEED TRAP” will be a digital display of the speed of each car as it enters turn 1, the digital readout may be viewed by the spectators and competitors. Flashco will also present each of the 2008 S R L Late Model Tour Series events at the new raceway. Rusty Lewis, President of Flashco had this to say about the association with the racetrack. “Flashco is honored to be partners with Kern County’s New Home to NASCAR. We believe this magnificent venue will allow us to thank our customers with an incomparable experience, and the visibility and name-association with such an unprecedented venture will help shape the future of Flashco. We view this as the defining moment in Flashco’s history, and we look forward to a long and healthy partnership.” Web Cam A web cam is now operating at the construction site. The current view from the web cam is from the west side of the project viewing the main entrance and backside of the grandstand and concourse area. The view will soon show the progress of the four story super structure that will house the concessions, offices and suites. Go to http://72.170.80.226:8085/ to view the site.
