CITY OF PERRIS HOSTS JULY 4TH RACE AND THE PAS HOSTS THE CITY OF PERRIS FANS THE REMAINDER OF JULY!PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY
Date: 06/26/2007
The July 4th program at The PAS is a fan favorite every year and not just for the racing. On the 4th, spectator gates will open two hours early at 3:00 PM. There will be a live band playing for the early arrivals and, as always, the drivers from the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Series will join with kids for a series of games on the front straightaway including water balloon toss, sack race and watermelon & hot dog eating contests. Also, in what has become a tradition at the popular Riverside County clay oval, the competing cars and drivers will line both sides of the main entrance to greet fans and for a giant autograph session as they enter the track. And, new this year, the drivers meeting will take place under the grandstands and all of the fans will be welcome to attend. Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian is very happy to be hosting the citizens of Perris in July. “This city is growing like crazy,” he said from behind his desk on Monday. “The amount of new homes and all of the new business coming to town is incredible. We want to welcome all of our neighbors and show them a good time in July on the clay oval and on the drag strip on Fridays.” The longtime promoter continued, “We also want to thank the city for being the presenting sponsor on July 4th. It is our biggest crowd of the year and a lot of fun for everyone who comes out. It is going to be a great afternoon and night of fun including interaction with the drivers & fans, music, games, racing and fireworks. I am excited now and we are nine days away.” Norco, California star Tony Jones, arguably the most popular driver to ever race at Perris Auto Speedway, won his third Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car main event of the season and second at The PAS last Saturday night before a large crowd. The popular driver hopped out of his car after the win and climbed to the top of the catch fence while the huge crowd roared its approval. Jones, 37, leads the 2007 chase for the championship by 143 point over Temecula, California’s Mike Spencer. Jones is the defending July 4th race winner at The PAS. The July 4th race will be the last at The PAS for the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars until the Annual Skirt Night on August 4th. Over the past two years, Skirt Night has turned into one of the track’s biggest promotions. Anyone, male or female, who wears a skirt or dress on August 4th will get in for just $5.00 and they can enjoy $1.00 hot dogs and $2.00 beer. Once again, July 4th at The PAS will include entertainment starting at 3:00 PM including a live band, autograph session, games for the kids & Lucas Oil USAC/CRA drivers, a drivers meeting open to all fans, the best auto racing on the west coast and a sensational fireworks show & sky concert to close the show. Remember, the gates open two hours earlier than normal at 3:00 PM. This Friday the red-hot drag racing action at the Street Legal Strip at The PAS will continue. Friday’s gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 6:00. Anyone wishing more information can contact Perris Auto Speedway at (951) 940-0134.
