Two-time and defending Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion and the reigning "World 100" Champion, Earl Pearson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL became the series' first three-time winner this year after his win at Virginia Motor Speedway on June 23. Pearson for the first time in '07 is back on top of the series championship point's standings holding the points lead by 100 markers over Eldora "Dream" winner, Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN. Scott James of Lawrenceburg, IN, Terry English of Benton, KY and Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI currently reside in the top five of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series standings.

Donnie Moran of Dresden, OH is sixth in points followed by Justin Rattliff of Campbellsville, KY, Billy Drake of Bloomington, IL, Damon Eller of Crumpler, NC and Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY.

Rattliff coming off of his ninth place finish at Virginia Motor Speedway leads the COMP Cams "Rookie of the Year" chase over Eller and Neat.

Moran is the only Buckeye State driver in the top ten of the Lucas Oil Series points. He is coming off of his best finish of the year as he ran a strong second to Pearson this past Saturday Night at Virginia Motor Speedway. Moran, who has finished third in the last two Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series final point standings as recorded four career wins at Portsmouth Raceway Park and numerous first place paydays at his home track at Muskingum County Speedway which is just about two minutes from his race shop.

Moran looks forward to returning to race in his home area. "I am really looking forward to the first Lucas race at Portsmouth, it is a great track and we have several wins there, I wish there were two Lucas races there this year, but hopefully we will put on great show there and we'll be back there more in the future." As far as Muskingum County Speedway will Moran feel the pressure of running in front of the home crowd? "Oh yeah you know the place will be packed because they have a fireworks display that is second to none, everybody will be asking hey what about this and that, I've had a few good and a few bad runs there but I know the fans look forward to seeing the Lucas Oil Series there and hopefully we can continue the momentum we came out of the Virginia race with." In the two previous visits to Muskingum County Speedway for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN and Steve Shaver of Vienna, WV have brought home the victories.

The tire rule for both events will be the same: Hoosier LM20, 1300, 1350, LM40, 1600 and the American Racer SD44, SD48 and MD56.

There will be complete show both nights with LifeLong Locks Time Trials along with the Hawk Brake and Quarter Master sponsored heat races. The number of heat races will be based on the number of entries. The Mason Racin' Rebel Shock Dyno and Penske Shocks B-Mains will be run followed by the $10,000 to win feature race.
