SUISUN CITY, California -- NASCAR driver Kenny Shepherd overcame many obstacles throughout the weekend to bring the T.O.E Motorsports No. 95 Save Mart/Mountain Dew/Oberto Beef Jerky Chevrolet home with a ninth place finish. T.O.E Motorsports and Kenny Shepherd were happy to give Save Mart Supermarkets a strong finish during the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series race part of the Toyota/Save Mart 350 weekend.

Shepherd qualified in the 25th position. During the seven minute road race style qualifying session, Shepherd lost power steering and an alternator belt. After the T.O.E Motorsports team made repairs to the car, Shepherd gave up his qualifying position to begin in the rear of the field, 38th spot.

Starting in the rear, Shepherd knew getting to the front was going to be a hurdle, but he was ready for the challenge. Shepherd wasted no time to make a hard charge to the front, passing four cars in two laps. By lap 27, Shepherd posted the third quickest lap according to NASCAR speed chart. During a caution on lap 28, the T.O.E Motorsports team brought the No. 95 Chevrolet into the pits for fresh tires.

Racing started again and Shepherd focused back on his mission, allowing him to take the No. 95 Chevrolet to the front of the 38 car field. With 15 laps to go, Shepherd needed to come down pit road again to refuel the No.95 T.O.E Motorsports Chevrolet. This was their 4th pit stop because of a malfunction with the fuel valve. Again, Shepherd started at the end of the lead lap, the tail end of 27 cars. Shepherd made his move to the front. Coming down to take the checkered flag, Shepherd battled side by side for eighth position and finished ninth by 2/100.

“Kenny did a great job.” Tony Oddo said enthusiastically. “We brought the car home in great shape. Kenny’s charge at the end was impressive. Tony Oddo Jr and Al Gonella did a great job spotting for Kenny. They did a great job keeping Kenny out of trouble and getting him to the front. I would like to thank the crew on the 95 car—Jack Hudack, John Matzen, and everyone who helped me prepare the 95 car. They did a great job.

I would like to thank Tim Kerrigan at Redline Oil for letting us test their new generation of racing oil.”

T.O.E Motorsports would like to extend a thank you to Save Mart Supermarkets for their support of Kenny Shepherd and T.O.E Motorsports in their quest for victory at Infineon. Mountain Dew and “Oh Boy” Oberto Beef Jerky were a huge part of making this weekend possible for Kenny Shepherd and T.O.E Motorsports.

“Nice to finish in the top-ten,” said Shepherd. “It was nice to have a successful run with Mountain Dew, Save Mart, Oberto Beef Jerky, and the whole team. We had a great car that was very capable, but were unable to ever get ahead. Having a better qualifying position would have really benefited us. I really am thankful to my family, friends, and race team that prepared a great car with, Oberto Beef Jerky, Save Mart, and Mountain Dew.

T.O.E Motorsports also finished the 2006 Blue Lizard Suncream 200 in ninth position. T.O.E Motorsports is currently looking for sponsorship to run more Grand National Division, West Series races this season.####
