ALTA DENA DAIRY RACING FINISHES STRONG AT INFINEON

SONOMA, California -- The No. 5 Alta Dena Dairy Racing team leaves Infineon Raceway with the pride and confidence needed to be a contender for the championship title this season. The Alta Dena Racing team moved up to the fifth position in points after Saturday’s race, making them a possible threat for the championship.

The team ran sixth fastest out of 40 cars during Friday’s practice, and some took notice. ABC News spoke with Eric Hardin, driver of the No. 5 Alta Dena Dairy Chevrolet, after practice to see how he felt going into Saturday’s race.

“I’m confident about our race car this weekend,” Hardin said. “The Alta Dena Dairy crew has really given me an outstanding car, and I’m not going to let them down.”

Hardin qualified in the 12th position for Saturday’s race and moved back to 38th on the first lap after being spun out by another competitor. With only 64 laps in the race and 31 of them under caution, it was a challenge to catch back up to the leaders. The Alta Dena Dairy car quickly moved back up to the seventh position only to be run off the road again in lap 39. After a few key pit stops for tires and fuel, Hardin regained focus and accelerated from the 34th spot to the 12th position where he took the checkered flag.

ABC News took interest in Hardin and the Alta Dena Dairy Racing team after seeing how well the No. 5 car ran in practice. Reporters and a camera crew followed Hardin and the team around during race day to film a documentary on NASCAR. The program is scheduled to air in early August.

“We’re really excited to see the broadcast ABC is putting together,” said John Keith, general sales manager for Alta Dena Dairy. “This gives the whole team pride and confidence about why we are here and where we are going.”

Alta Dena Dairy Racing’s next race is Saturday, June 30 for the BI-MART Firecracker 150 at Douglas County Speedway in Roseburg, Ore.
