AUTO RACES / BOAT RACES AT SPEEDWAY SATURDAY

LAKEPORT, California -- A double-header is scheduled for Saturday night at the Lakeport Speedway with both the ‘King of the Hill Challenge” auto racing series, and round two of the “Fiberglass 500” boat races. Each event is a spectacle of its own and will thrill both race fans and destruction derby fans.

Prior to the auto racing will be the annual parade lap with the vintage cars from the No Name Car Club at 6:35 pm . And mixed into the auto racing program will be the vintage race cars with the Nostalgic Race Car Group, bringing race fans young and old alike a bit of excitement.

The “Eve of Destruction” boat race features race cars dragging boats around the race track. The idea is for Cruisers, bombers, destruction derby-type cars, or other race cars to try to dislodge the other guy’s boat. They can bump, ram or even drive through a competitor’s boat. And to make it even more exciting, they’ll be competing on a wet race tack. It’s known as a rolling destruction derby, and the winner will be declared when the last car is left with a boat in tow. If more than one car is left with boat, the race fans will choose the winner based on the level of excitement he or she has generated.

King of the Hill Challenge series divisions running will be the Guy Strohmeier Auto Center bombers and bonus bombers, the NCRA mini stocks, and the modifieds. The boat race is a qualifying event for the Asphalt Boat Nationals that will be held at Lakeport Speedway on September 15.

Gates open for this special event at 5:00 pm with racing at 7:00 pm. Admission prices are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (62+) and students (12-17), and $6 for kids. Call the speedway office at 707-274-2844 for more information.
