AUCKERMAN, WHITLOW SCORE VICTORIESPOST FALLS, Idaho -- With a tough start to the first part of the season Mel Auckerman returned to victory lane for the Fever 4’s during Wednesday Night Fever at Stateline Speedway.

Auckerman, the 2005 division champion, set fast time and avoided early cautions to win the 30-lap feature event over heat winner Rusty Webb. Auckerman held a strong lead after dashing away on restarts. Last year’s champion KC Garber finished third, Terry Auckerman fourth with John Vallone rounding out the top five.

Craig O’Neal and Dan Ortiz won dashes. Division rookie Brycen Tarr won the B Heat. The team of Thomas Plybon and Andy Brown continues to lead the point standings, 100-points over John Vallone in second.

Will Whitlow won the A heat and maneuvered his big blue Station Wagon past slowed and stalled cars to win the 20-lap Bump to Pass finale. Whitlow was tagged from behind by “Crazy Taxi” driver and dash winner Darryl Carillio early in the race but was able to hold on passing B Dash winner Bob Willis for the lead.

James Cotter finished second, Aaron Clother third. Willis and Yvonne Lifsey rounded out the top five.

Dave Hatton continued his winning ways in the Road Runner class. Hatton set fast time, won the fast dash and avoided a lap four pile-up to win the 20-lap feature. The win is Hatton’s second straight after starting in the rear of the pack.

Roman Gibson finished second, Tom Harris third. Hatton is now 29-points behind Russell Syverson in the division point standings.

Racing continues Saturday with the return of the Inland Northwest Winged Sprint Cars featuring point leader Tony Berry, and race winners Wes Helgeson and Kevin Burck.
