YAKIMA SPEEDWAY ADDING CLASSES FOR 2008

The new additions will join the popular Late Models, running in 2008 without the restrictor plate, the fast Super Stocks, Hornets and the Bump to Pass classes.

Track owner for 43 years, Ted Pollock, stated recently, “We try to listen to our competitors and bringing in these new classes will open up the exciting world of racing to a whole new group of racers”. He goes on to state, “The Hobby cars, pure stocks, will race on the big oval and the Youth Hornets will compete on the smaller track. By allowing, for the first time ever, younger racers to compete in a Youth Hornet class, and by allowing younger people to experience the pit area scene, we will build new fans and racers”.

The traditional opening event at the Speedway is the Apple Cup set for April 12-13. The season will conclude on October 3-4-5- with the Fall Classic. During the summer the facility will host the ASA Aero Exhaust Northwest Tour on May 24th and August 30th. Many top traveling series will appear in 2008. Included are the Outlaw Street Stocks, Pro-4 Trucks, Limited Late Models and the track is working with the Northwest Mods and others. The fast ½ mile paved oval will also host a Late Model, 200 lap race on Sunday of Labor Day weekend.
