ESI CONTINUES HOTSHOE BONUS FOR CARBONX ROCKY MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE SERIESROCKY MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE SERIES
Date: 04/03/2008
The ESI Hotshoe Award will reward the driver who sets fast time and then goes on to win the race with a $400 bonus at each event this season. The driver will also receive a specialized plaque for the accomplishment. If the driver who sets fast time does not win the race, then the money will rollover to the next event making the bonus $800. If after the third event the bonus is not paid out the $1200 bonus will be paid out as follows: the driver earning the most passing points over the three-race stretch will earn $500; the driver with the fifth most passing points over the three-race stretch will earn $400; and the driver with the eighth most passing points over the three-race stretch will earn $300. The CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series utilizes a unique racing format not found in any other Late Model touring series in the country. The RMCS inverts the top twenty qualifiers for every feature race on the schedule putting the fast qualifier in the 20th starting position. The RMCS also awards passing points (3 per position) and pays the race purse based on total points accumulated for the event. This format ensures that race fans see plenty of competitive passing and the drivers have to perform for a top finish. "This program was very successful last season and I know the guys liked the recognition and reward," stated Tom Hill, president of ESI. "This year will prove to be the most exciting year yet and we cannot wait for the action to begin." "Tom Hill has been an extremely important part of this series since inception," said Mike Minegar, president of the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series. "This is the award last season that all the guys were talking about and gunning for. It creates a lot of excitement for the fans and improves the competition on the track and rewards not only the fast guy, but rewards consistency." "This will be the biggest year yet for the series," Minegar continued. "The ESI Hotshoe Award is the type of award that continues to attract new drivers to the series and puts more fans in the stands." The CarbonX® Rocky Mountain Challenge Series kicks off its fifth season at Magic Valley Speedway Saturday, April 19. The teams will participate in an open test this Saturday, April 5. The CarbonX® Rocky Mountain Challenge Series will have nine points races including a first ever stop at Stateline Stadium Speedway Saturday, August 2 as part of the Idaho "200" weekend.
