PEPSI PREMIER DRIVER ROB VEST MADE HIS SECOND TRIP OF THE SEASON TO THE WINNER’S CIRCLE LAST SATURDAY NIGHT AT MAGIC VALLEY SPEEDWAY.TWIN FALLS, Idaho – Pepsi Premier driver Rob Vest and NAPA Pony Stocks’ Josh Pitz became two-time main event race winners in last Saturday night what is still the early goings of the season at Magic Valley Speedway.

Other drivers chalking up victories were Craig Nuthak in the Magic Valley Pipe Thunder Stocks, James Ingham with the Legends and trailer race survivor Dan Hunt.

Vest began the 50-lap main event race mid-field but moved up quickly and took over the lead at lap 13. Just as Vest began to put some substantial real estate between his No. 27 car and the rest of the field, three cautions within eight laps of each other forced Vest to test his restarting skills – which he passed with flying colors each time, leading each lap until the checked flag fell on the race. TJ Woodhall gave Vest a run for the lead around the half-way mark of the race trying to get around Vest on the outside, but Woodhall then also had to worry about the No. 98 car of Rick Fowble sneaking underneath him.

As the laps wound down Vest regained his command of the race while Woodhall, Fowble, Shelby Stroebel and Mike Greco scrambled for positions giving Vest ample opportunity to sew up the win.

“When we had that caution where TJ (Woodhall) was on the outside of me – I figured he would take off and leave me there – because I was stuck on the bottom,” Vest said. “But once I got around him I could go on the high side, which was working great for me tonight. I didn’t think with the new tires and everything that we would be back in the winner’s circle this soon - but things just seemed to work out.”

Josh Pitz continues to seemingly come out of no where, capturing the win in the 20-lap main event after taking over the lead with just five laps remaining in the race.

After a caution on lap one Ray Homulka settled in as the leader but Jason Abbott took things over at lap seven. Pitz, moving quickly through the field, was able to stick to the outside groove and got around the No. 20 car of Abbott as the rest of the event went caution free.

Pitz won the opening night event at MVS and lost by a nose to Brent Abbott in the following event – and he continues to set the bar in the series so far this season.

Champion in the division for 2006, Craig Nuthak took his No. 36 car with a newly rebuilt engine to Victory Lane after leading all but the first lap in the main event race.

Steve Edens and Jim Shirley fought for second several lengths behind the leader, but their scrimmaging left the door open for Nuthak as he cruised to the win in just his second appearance this season.

Legends

Driver of the No. 24 car James Ingham was the main event winner after the lead changed hands several times throughout the 15 lap race. Ingham passed Travis Andre on lap 13 – but not without a fight – to capture the win.

Trailer race

Dan Hunt, probably one of the most experienced trailer race drivers around, captured the win after surviving the hits from the other contestants which included two school buses.
