STEVENSON WINS HOBBY RACE AT YAKIMA SPEEDWAY

YAKIMA, Washington. – Second generation driver, Jeff Stevenson, won his first main event ever, Saturday night at Yakima Speedway. Stevenson, driving a beautiful Camero, took over the top spot on lap 13 of the 30 lap event. He held off strong challenges the rest of the way. Aaron Haley, Don Klang, Jerry Walker Jr., Terry Osborn and Mel Patnode all spent time leading the competitive field, but in the end, Stevenson took home the winning hardware.

In the Super Stock event, Mike Pepper extended his points lead with yet another victory. Buck Noel Jr. and Ben St. Mary finished in the top three positions.

Speedway officials announced today, some changes in the 2008 schedule. The next event to be held on May 31st. will feature the Late Models, Hobby Sportsman, Hobbies, Hornets and Youth Hornets along with the Bump to Pass. It will be $7.00 hot dog and drink night. The Friday night show set for June 6th has been canceled. Most area school will be having graduation that evening. The June 28th race will add the Hobby Sportsman to the field joining the Late Models, Hobbies, both Hornet classes and the Bump to Pass cars.

Also appearing on May 31st. will be James August Smith, a well known Hollywood stuntman. Smith will be driving the Camero,”Bumblebee” on two wheels through a tunnel.
