The race is the fifth of 11 BCRA Midget series pavement races of 2008 and tenth of 21 scheduled races. Top entries for Saturday’s race include a host of talented chauffeurs including a trio of local favorites including Fresno’s Dallen McKenney, Hanford young gun Michael Faccinto and Clovis’ Danny Parker. McKenney will be seeking his second BCRA feature win of 2008 aboard his #88 TCR/Goewens Mopar, having won the BCRA Midget portion of the prestigious Vukovich Classic on May 10. During that go-round, McKenney won the Trophy Dash, his Heat race and the main event. Faccinto is hoping to capture his first BCRA Midget pavement victory aboard the #41 Gary Scelzi Village Tire Beast/Mopar. Faccinto set fast time in May at the Vukovich Classic and finished second behind McKenney. Faccinto has also scored numerous podium runs at Madera. Parker will be piloting his own #38 Stewart/Dyne. Other stellar entries for Saturday include 17-year-old reigning BCRA champion Justin Grant aboard the #10c Paul Eskesen Stealth/Mopar, 7-time BCRA champion “Ageless Wonder” Floyd Alvis in his #18 Champion Automotive Stealth/Van Dyne, Chad Nichols in his #17n Beast/Esslinger, Ralphie “The Racer” Cortez manning the wheel of the #31 Shores/Cortez Special Beast/Sesco-Mopar, points leader Scott Nail aboard Stu Donaldson’s #8x Stealth/Pontiac, Lakeport Speedway track record holder and second-place pointsman Nick Foster, Jr. aboard Jim Fowler’s #24 Beast/Gaerte, Ukiah feature winner Marco DeGeorge aboard Mark DeGeorge’s #78 Beast/Esslinger, Daniel Bedford in the #03 Bedford Motorsports Beast/Mopar, Youngster Kyle Dickerson aboard grandfather Harold’s #11k Beast/Ed Pink Ford, Midget Lite grad “Nitro” Nick Chivello aboard father Daniel’s #27b Beast/Esslinger, Dan Gundo in his #6 Stealth/Gaerte and Mike Donaldson aboard Stu Donaldson’s #8 Stealth/Gaerte. Grant won the Vukovich Classic at Madera last year and Bedford led several laps at Madera in May. Heading into Saturday’s “Super Saturday” event at Madera Speedway, Nail leads the BCRA Midget points over Foster and Alvis. Joining the BCRA Midgets on Saturday will be 410 and 360 Super Modifieds, Legends, Western Late Models, Hornets and American Limited Stock Cars. Pit gates will open at 10 a.m., with grandstands opening at 3 p.m., heats and dashes begin at 5 p.m., with the evening’s opening ceremonies and main events kicking off at approximately 6:45 p.m.
