LONGTON WINS AGAINYAKIMA, Speedway – Mike Longton from Moxee, Washington continued his hot streak with another win Saturday night at ASA sanctioned Yakima Speedway. The current points leader had his work cut out for him the entire 60-lap race. Defending champion, Owen Riddle, jumped out to a good lead in the opening laps. Steve Thompson, Mike Zamora and Longton were having a heated battle behind the leader. Thompson starting slowing around lap 20, Zamora developed an oil leak that hampered his progress while Longton and Walker continued to march toward the front. Longton reached the rear bumper of Riddle and the two had a spirited battle for the lead. While this was taking place, Walker was closing up to a very strong third place. On lap 51, the trio came up to lap the racer of Dan Obrist. As the trio entered turn three, contact was made between leader Riddle and Obrist. Obrist spun off turn four and collected Walker. The night was over for hard luck Walker and Obrist, Riddle had to make a pit stop and Longton cruised to another win. Duke Langley was second with Ron Bemis third. Christopher Kalsch and Rich Peters rounded out the top five.
