DAVID MAYHEW AND GGRT HARD EARNED TOP 5NASCAR WEST SERIES
Source: GGRT Media Relations/wp
![]() Mayhew knew qualifying the Bay Bio Diesel Chevrolet up front was the key to a good finish. After chasing the car in practice, the team worked hard, and Mayhew qualified 5th. The Bay Bio Diesel Chevrolet was the first car to make a hard charging move for position. After about 30 laps Mayhew was running 3rd, where he ran most of the night. The long green flags started to take its toll on the #21, but Mayhew got every inch out of the #21 car and brought it home to a solid 4th place finish.
After a string of bad luck that left the Golden Gate Racing Team out of the top ten in points, leading the most laps at Irwindale and finishing 4th in Roseburg has moved the #21 car into tenth. “After the mechanicals our team has endured this year and the amount of frustration it caused, I am proud of how my team persevered. I have faith in my driver, crew and owner. We continue to strive to be better and looking forward to putting the Bay Bio Diesel Chevrolet in Victory Lane”, replied Portenga.
Golden Gate Racing Team would like to thank all our sponsors, Bay Bio Diesel, RCR, Maropulos Racing Engines, Corte Madera Tow, IPS, FoodComm International, Praxair, Ace Auto Body, Keith Fontana Construction, Hill Meat Company and Economy Propane for all their support and encouragement.
The next event on the schedule for the NASCAR Camping World Series West is at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Wash., on July 26. See Also .: News Index | E-mail to a Friend Article posted by RacingWest.com staff on 07/16/2008. http://www.racingwest.com
