QUALE COMES THROUGH WITH WIN AT MVSMAGIC VALLEY SPEEDWAY
Source: MVS Media Relation/lb
Quale captured the win in the 100-lap race Saturday night after starting thirteenth in the pack of the largest field of Pepsi Premier Series cars to undertake a main event this season.
With Mike Greco taking the lead at lap 3, the 21 car mixture of late-models and modifieds ran 26 laps before the first caution of the race was displayed to the field. The ride of last weekend’s winner Cliff Chester received the most damage in the incident, taking him out of contention for the remainder of the event.
Greco held on to the lead until lap 34 – that’s when Quale took over. At the half-way point Quale had gobbled up a 10-car length lead over the field – but successive yellow flags in the following laps continued to bunch up the pack for restarts. Shelby Stroebel had worked his way up to one of the top three challengers for the victory - but the final laps saw Quale en route to the win while all Greco and Stroebel could do was fight for second.
“The car ran great tonight,” Quale said. “That outside groove was perfect – just as smooth as glass.”
Greco lost his battle with Stroebel with 18 laps remaining in the race, but nevertheless had one of his best runs of the season having been snake bit several times in recent weeks.
“The crew has really worked hard on the car for at least the last 5 weeks,” Greco said. “Sometimes it’s hard to keep everybody motivated after all that has happened. But it was a good handling car tonight - they did a great job. It was pretty awesome.”

At the halfway mark of the 20-lap main event leader Raymond Homolka had his hands full trying to keep Wade Henslee behind him, but it was Jeff Couch who gave Homolka the most concern as the laps wound further down in the race. A bobble in turn four by Couch gave Homolka some breathing room – and the driver of the No. 9 car soon had landed in the winner’s circle for the first time this season.

Rick Gooding looked to on his way to his first main event win of the year - but Steve Edens had another outcome in mind.
Starting from the pole position Gooding was on a mission to capture his first win of the season, but got loose in turn two at lap 18 with Edens right behind. After dropping back to second, Spencer Meyer was also able to take advantage of the situation – passing Gooding in the final two laps to finish in the runner-up position.

A nest of 23-cars took the green flag for the start of a wild main event – but at the finish it was Ryan Jund who wound up with the win in the race. Tim Ford was out front laps four through 23 – even as his rear bumper dragged the ground after an early incident with the No. 19 car of J.B. Rodgers. With less than five laps remaining in the race Ford began to lose his aerodynamics – opening the door for Jund who was able to hold off a determined Daniel Shirley challenging Jund for the victory in the final laps.
