JASON PATISON FINISHES 12TH IN NASCAR CAMPING WORLD SERIES RACE AT EVERGREEN SPEEDWAY DESPITE FLAT TIRENASCAR CAMPING WORLD WEST SERIES
Source: Jason Patison Racing
![]() Jason Patison and the Speed Wong Racing team cannot recall the last time they have seen this much bad luck in a single season. Trying to get things turned around, they traveled to Monroe Washington for the 150 NASCAR Camping World Series event. Having never even seen the 5/8 mile track before, Patison made the most of the practice session, increasing his lap speed every time onto the track. By the time qualifying rolled around Patison felt much more comfortable with his line around the track but unfortunately his number 17 ride did not cooperate. The extra tape on the nose of the car, put on for qualifying, increased the front down force on the car more than the team was expecting, and resulted in the car bottoming out as it entered the corners. By the end of the session Patison had qualified in a disappointing 14th position for the start of the event.
Knowing that the car was much better than the qualifying run had shown, Patison had high hopes for the race but unfortunately the bad luck was not over. Very early in the race there was a multi-car incident in the middle of turns 1 and 2, Patison swerved low onto the infield to avoid the wreck and ran over some debris, puncturing a hole in his right rear tire. Patison stayed in the throttle and tried to keep up but as the air pressure got lower the car’s handling deteriorated. The team was forced to make a green flag pit stop and went several laps down by the time they returned to the track. When Patison reentered the race his car was very fast as he ran down and passed several competitors, but as he was not on the lead lap it was all for show.
Patison brought his Lucas Oil sponsored machine home in 12th position, very disappointed but not broken. “This is the worst luck I’ve ever had in my entire career. My team has worked very hard and we have had fast racecars, this is the 5th race in a row that an incident out of our control has taken us out of a good finish. All we can do is keep trying.”
The last 5 races have seen 2 flat tires, 2 wrecks caused by Moses Smith and 1 blown motor, resulting in a plummet in the point standings, Patison and team now sit in 14th position with 4 races to go in the 2008 season.
Special thanks goes out to all of Patison’s crew members and Sponsors; Lucas Oil Products, Dixie Chopper, SuperClean, Jasper Engines, E3 Spark Plugs, Jim Beam, K&N Filters, Idiaz Label, and Fatheadz Sun Glasses for all of their support.
