RICK SIGMON DOMINATES LATE MODEL STOCK CAR ACTION AT ASA FRANKLIN COUNTY SPEEDWAY

CALLAWAY, Va — Coming into a double-points race at ASA Franklin County Speedway on Saturday August 30th, Rick Sigmon knew he had to let it all hang out in the Pro-Line Trailer Sales 250. He did just that in the 75-lap Pro-Line Trailer Sales Late Model Stock Car race.

Sigmon served notice to the field that he was all business by leading both practice sessions before qualifying. He backed the practice sessions up by winning the Family Pharmacy Pole Award with a lap of 14.153 seconds during qualifying.

Sigmon would start fourth in the feature race after drawing a four pill in the ASA mandated inversion. That would put rookie Travis Hurt on the pole with eight time winner in 2008 Rodney Cook on the outside. ASA National and track point leader Jimmy Mullins started third.

Cook jumped to the lead at the start of the race with Hurt, Mullins and Sigmon in tow. Hurt and Mullins made contact on lap 11 with the number 21 machine of Hurt spinning in turn three. Hurt was then slammed by the number 61 car of Frankie Kelley. Mullins was put to the rear of the field for the contact and Hurt and Kelley were done for the night.

Sigmon made quick work of Cook on the restart and dominated the rest of the race. Mullins recovered from his penalty to finish second with Cook finishing third. John Hall had his best run of the season with a fourth place finish and Timmy Hogan came home fifth. Sigmon trimmed Mullins' point lead to eighteen with one race weekend left in the season.

Wayne Wilson returned to victory lane in Berglund Automotive Street Stock action after a spirited battle with Tommy Adams, Jr. and Kyle Dudley throughout the 30-lap race. Wilson was followed in the top five by Adams, Jr., Brian Sutphin, Steven Weeks and Dudley.

Timmy Hogan took the PMZ Group Mod4 division win after a torrid battle with Michael McGuire. McGuire pressured Hogan relentlessly but could not make the pass for the lead. McGuire, Terry Mitchell, Jonathan Smith and Jonathan Hall rounded out the top five finishers.

Chad Burnopp took the win in the Alan Mullins Automotive UCAR race. Scott Foley came home second with Randy Argabright in third. Matthew Cook and Josh Reeves completed the top five.

Racing switches to Sunday afternoon next week with the running of the King's Hauling and Excavating, Specialized Saw & Mower/Underwood Custom Kitchens, Inc. 250 on September 7th. Gates will open at 10AM with practice beginning at 12:15PM. Qualifying rolls off at 2:30PM and racing is slated to begin at 3:30PM.
