JASON ALLEN

Aptly nicknamed the "Dogger" for his ability to hound his opponents until they make a mistake, Jason Allen has carved a name for himself in the fast-paced arena of stock car racing in a very short time.

Hailing from Las Vegas, Allen, who is just entering his third year of auto racing, has already distinguished himself by winning the 2001 NASCAR Late Model Division Championship and Rookie of the Year honors. The year before, his first venture into auto racing, he dominated his class in the Legend Cars, earning both Rookie of the Year and the Nevada State title.

However, while competing in the NASCAR world maybe new to Allen, competition is certainly not…in fact far from it. "I've always had a highly competitive spirit," explains Allen "and I definitely like to win, no matter what the sport."

Growing up, Allen, who is extremely athletic, played soccer, baseball and basketball, plus got his first, taste of racing in motocross. "My best friend for 15 years was the late Chris Trickle," continues Allen. "In fact he was the one who dubbed me the 'Dogger'. We raced motocross together and challenged each other daily in just about everything we did. I really liked racing motorcycles, but after I broke my leg for the third time, my mom had other ideas, so I got involved in golf."

Earning a full golf scholarship to Tennessee State University, Allen embarked on a career as a pro golfer. "I played on the Canadian Tour," says Allen "It was a great experience and I love playing golf, but I felt something was missing. I wanted something with a little more excitement."

Returning home to Las Vegas in 2000, Allen took a Legend car out for a spin and was instantly hooked. "I knew I had to try my hand at racing," smiles Allen. "I had crewed for Chris when he was still alive and always enjoyed it, but the minute I actually got in a car, the racing bug really bit me. There was no doubt in my mind - I had found a new career."

An extremely dedicated, hard-working, professional young man, Allen not only is highly competitive, but he strives for excellence in every aspect of his career. "I feel that if you truly want to succeed, you have to know everything possible about your job - all the various ins-and-outs," he explains. "Winning is very much a team effort. No one can do it alone, but understanding all the aspects makes it easier for the entire team. For example, if I understand all about the car then I can give the crew chief the right information to set the car up. If I understand all about media and promotion, then I can do a better job for sponsors and so on down the line. I am learning a great deal and I definitely enjoy all the different aspects."

And it is this type of attitude that breeds true champions. With Allen's talent behind the wheel, his support from team owner Mary Wolfe and the excellent tuning ability of the entire crew, there is no doubt that this is a young man who will continue to climb the racing ladder of success.
